The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) found a woman dead inside a trash receptacle, Sunday.

The woman was found on the 2500 block of Santa Ana street in Huntington Park, with homicide investigators responding to a call at approximately 10:40 p.m.

Sheriff’s believe the body was that of a 75-year-old woman who was reported missing over the weekend, along with a missing vehicle. The vehicle was found Monday at 6:30 a.m. in the city of Rosemead, along with a man believed to be the missing woman’s son.

The man was detained as a person of interest by LASD and officials believe foul play was involved.

The cause of death has not been announced, but will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

The investigation is ongoing.
