A homeless man discovered dead on a downtown L.A. sidewalk with stab wounds to his neck and torso on January 17 was later identified as 47-year-old white homeless man Larry Kyle Perkins, according to City News Service.

Postal police — or, security officers hired to prevent postal theft and other mail-related crime — stumbled upon his lifeless dead body at about 12:30 a.m., the Los Angeles Times reported. At that point, LAPD homicide detectives from the Newton Division took over the case.

Perkins had been attacked outside the post office at 1122 East 2nd Street…

… right where it intersects with Kohler Street. His attacker and the weapon used in the murder, however, were long gone.

Back in January, LAPD Detective Leonardo McKenzie told the Times that “investigators do not have a description of the assailant and do not know the circumstances that led up to Perkins' death.”
