7-Year-Old Child One of Five Victims Killed in Single-Car Accident on Interstate 5

FRENCH CAMP, CA (March 25, 2021) – Thursday evening, Larinda Jones, Nathaniel Clifton, Phylis Clifton, Major Clifton and Gina Jewell were killed in a car crash on I-5.

The accident occurred around 11:00 p.m., on March 11. A 1997 Toyota driven by 33-year-old Nathaniel Clifton, crashed through a fence and slammed into a tree.

The Toyota was traveling northbound on Interstate 5 when it veered off the road and collided with a highway sign for unknown reasons.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and tried to rescue the victims. However, all five passengers were killed in the crash, including 42-year-old Larinda Jones, 7-year-old Phylis Clifton, 10-month-old Major Clifton and the 33-year-old driver Nathaniel Clifton.

Authorities also identified the fifth victim was a family friend, 29-year-old Gina Jewell.

At this time, authorities suspect the driver of DUI but have not released further information. Once available, more details will be provided.
