The annual Labor Day Weekend DUI crackdown put 2,313 of you in jail in L.A. county, an increase from the 2,098 alleged drunk drivers nabbed during the same period last year, the sheriff's department says.

That's quite a way to wind down the summer. But cops aren't quite done with the season yet: The LAPD will be in buster mode tonight in Echo Park and beyond. Here's your cheat sheet:

Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. the LAPD will have a DUI checkpoint waiting for you on Lankershim Boulevard and Vanowen Street in lovely North Hollywood.

And here's the info all you hipsters have been waiting for:

Tonight the LAPD will double down on street patrols in an effort to nab drunks behind the wheel in Echo Park and other neighborhoods (Westlake, Pico-Union, Rampart Village) represented by the the department's Rampart Division.

All the magic happens from 4 p.m. to midnight, the LAPD says.

Why do we tell you this stuff? Here's what the LAPD itself says about its weekly efforts to get journalists to write about its DUI operations:

The deterrent effect of sobriety checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes. Research shows that crashes involving alcohol drop by an average of 20 percent when well-publicized checkpoints are conducted.

Mmmkay? Be safe.
