Los Angeles police are searching for a suspect who they say poured acid on the face of his girlfriend during a physical and sexual attack on Halloween.

They're looking for 30-year-old Miguel Angel Herrera of Los Angeles, who they allege tortured his girlfriend by hitting her, cutting her, whipping her with an electrical chord and pouring acid on her. He also sexually attacked her, police said.

The alleged attack took place about 9 p.m. on Halloween night after the victim showed up at the suspect's home in the 1100 block of West 41st Street. Investigators say the two had an argument, with the suspect becoming uncontrollably irate, because the victim was late in arriving at his residence.

Police say he let her go but then drove off after her in his Nissan Titan pickup truck (license plate 8K55469). She was able to shake the suspect and ended up at the home of a family member who then drove her to the Los Angeles Police Department's Newton Division station. The victim was subsequently hospitalized.

“This incident appears to be an isolated incident and it is believed that it's not related to any other assaults in the area,” states Det. Eloy Ochoa.

Police ask that anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts call them at 213-485-2585.
