A Venice medical marijuana dispensary was raided by police Thursday, a Los Angeles Police Department official confirmed to the Weekly. Yo! Venice! first reported the police action, stating that the target was the Green Goddess Collective at 70 Winward Avenue, which is near the epicenter of the beach community's boardwalk scene.

Calls to police and the City Attorney's office did not reveal more information about the action, however, with a City Attorney's spokesman saying he did not know anything about the raid. It was a surprising move because the city had previously announced it would not enforce its new law prohibiting most pot shops, at least until court challenges to the ordinance work their way through court this month. However, that doesn't mean the dispensary wasn't targeted for other possible allegations.
