(Ladies and) gentlemen, don't start your engines. It's going to be a big weekend for DUI checkpoints. What's the occasion? We don't know. It's not the 4th of July or even New Year's Eve, but the men and women in blue will be out in force in the city of Los Angeles. So be on your best behavior.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the following DUI and drivers license checkpoints are planned for the weekend:

-Friday, Echo Park: Glendale Boulevard and Berkeley Avenue from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

-Friday, Encino: Ventura Boulevard between Densmore Avenue and Haskell Avenue from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

-Saturday, Venice: Washington Boulevard between Stanford Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

-Saturday, Van Nuys: Near Sepuvleda Boulevard and Valerio Street from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
