Off-Duty Police Officer Killed in Motorcycle Collision on Beechwood Avenue

LYNWOOD, CA (June 6, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, Lanell Whitfield was killed in a fiery motorcycle crash on Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The incident occurred 3:32 p.m., near Beechwood Avenue. Emergency crews responded to the scene on June 4th.

Per reports, a caller reported that a motorcycle was on fire with its rider down on the ground. It was not clear whether the motorcycle crashed into another object or not.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, officers pronounced 25-year-old Whitfield dead at the scene. Whitfield was an officer in the Whittier Police Department, who just started providing service in October.

Further investigation are conducted to how the crash happened.
