44-Year-Old Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Accident on Forest Avenue

CHICO, CA (March 28, 2022) – Sunday evening, 44-year-old Lance Ostrander lost his life following a solo-car crash on Highway 32.

The incident happened around 7:00 p.m. along Highway 32 and Forest Avenue near Chico’s southeast side, right in front of a 7-Eleven.

According to reports, Ostrander’s vehicle veered off the road and ended up crashing into a tree. Eventually, first responders arrived and pronounced Ostrander dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics took the unnamed female passenger, who is in critical condition, to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Emergency crews also took a dog in the car to a veterinarian for treatment.

Both directions of the roadway were temporarily closed down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, authorities ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the crash. Chico police will release additional information when it becomes available.

An active investigation is still currently underway.
