Pedestrian Fatally Struck near Plum Street

OLYMPIA, WA (August 31, 2021) – Sunday night, a man under the influence of drugs was struck by a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Lana Monfort.

Reports indicate that around 9:18 p.m., Monfort was heading south towards the off-ramp near Plum Street. Officers say she witnessed a man with a flash light walking along the road.

Monfort then switched into the No. 2 lane where she struck a man who was lying down on the road.

Paramedics responded and airlifted the severely injured pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. As of Monday, the pedestrian was still alive.

In addition, authorities determined that Lana Monfort was not under the influence at the time of the collision. Although, the pedestrian was on drugs.

The surrounding area was closed for a brief time. But, the road has since reopened to traffic.
