0 1Opinions about whether or not to use Latinx aside, the Latin community continues to find ways to unify and the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) has been a big part of that for two decades. Dedicated to showcasing “the entirety of human experience from the Latino perspective,” the Edward James Olmos-created event celebrates expression through film, television, digital, music, and various kinds of art. Mostly online this year, the fest features a few in-person events as COVID-19 numbers decrease in California.

Anticipated features and shorts include the inspiring Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go For It (look for a feature here in time for the documentary’s wide release);  Executive Order (Brazil); Women is Losers (U.S.); Papi (Dominican Republic); “Beats” (Argentinian short ); “La Ciguapa Siempre” (a selection from the Netflix-sponsored “Latinx” Inclusion Fellowship Series, which makes its world premiere this Saturday at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and screens virtually the following day); and many, many more.
