It's been a long, hot summer in Los Angeles, and local police are looking to wrap it up by unleashing a can of whoop-ass on drunk drivers.

The annual Labor Day weekend drunk-driver crackdown starts a week two weeks early this year, with checkpoints and special patrols coming at you across Los Angeles starting tonight.

Expaineth the Los Angeles Police Department:

The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” is an 18-day, high-visibility campaign coordinated by the California Office of Traffic Safety to curb impaired driving and save lives. From August 21 to September 7 (Labor Day), law enforcement partners throughout Los Angeles County, the State of California and nationwide will have zero tolerance for drunk driving.
