An epic, two-week-plus Labor Day DUI crackdown culminates with checkpoints and extra patrols this weekend.

The California Highway Patrol says its “maximum enforcement period” for the holiday starts at 6 tonight and ends 11:59 p.m. Monday. During that time last year more than 1,100 suspected drunk drivers were arrested by CHP officers statewide and 49 people died in highway traffic crashes.

The Los Angeles Police Department and other agencies are warning you they'll be looking extra hard for drunks behind the wheel. The LAPD says that giving specific warnings dissuades people from driving after one too many: it could save lives.

Here's the 411:

Tonight from 7 p.m. to midnight the LAPD will be running a checkpoint at Manchester Avenue and Main Street in South L.A.

Tonight from 7 p.m. to midnight another South L.A. checkpoint will be expecting you at Florence Avenue and Main Street.

Tonight from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. a checkpoint will be on duty at Fairfax Avenue and Fifth Street in the Fairfax District.

Tonight from 9 p.m. to 2 p.m. an LAPD checkpoint will be lurking at Figueroa and Ninth streets near Staples Center.

Tonight from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. the L.A. Sheriff's Department will have a checkpoint running at an undisclosed location in Pico Rivera.

Tonight from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. a sheriff's checkpoint will be awaiting you at an undisclosed location in Paramount.

Tonight additional checkpoints will be set up in Arcadia, Azusa, Downey, Glendale, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Santa Monica, Signal Hill, and Altadena.

Tonight DUI “saturation patrols” will hit the streets of the following communities: Norwalk, Gardena, Glendora, Monterey Park, Pomona and Van Nuys, and LAPD's Wilshire Division area (including parts of Koreatown, Mid-City, Beverly Grove and more).

Saturday from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. a checkpoint will be set up on Van Nuys and Roscoe boulevards in Panorama City.

Saturday from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. a checkpoint will be waiting for you at Van Nuys Boulevard and Tiara Street in Van Nuys.

Saturday a DUI saturation patrol will be on the lookout for you in the LAPD's Southwest Division area, which includes the area south of the 10 freeway from USC to the Baldwin Hill.s

Saturday additional saturation patrols will be happening in Baldwin Park, Gardena, Long Beach, Pomona, San Gabriel, Central Los Angeles, West Los Angeles, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Inglewood, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, El Camino College, and Torrance.

Sunday from 2 to 10 p.m. a DUI saturation patrol will greet you in the LAPD”s Mission Division area of the San Fernando Valley.

Sunday saturation patrols will also be happening in Gardena and Pomona.

Monday a checkpoint will be running in East L.A.

Monday a saturation patrol will be running in Pomona.
