It's that time of year again, time to save the date on your calendar, consider a juice fast and, when said date arrives, to head downtown to Vibiana's to eat one seriously big breakfast. LA Weekly's Second Annual Pancake Breakfast will be held on Sunday, August 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Why Vibiana's? Because that's where it was last year, and because eating pancakes in a deconsecrated cathedral on a Sunday morning is a lot more fun than going to real church. Bring the children, the Sunday paper, your dog-eared Hans Küng if it'll make you feel better, your Fantasy Football picks. Oh, and an appetite. Turn the page for details.

This year the happy event has been curated by special guest host Fred Eric (Fred 62, Tiara Café) who knows something about pancakes. Also toasters and art installations. Maybe he'll even dress up, as he did last year (rabbit ears!). Among the over 25 restaurants making your breakfast: Salt's Cure, The Village Bakery, Langer's, Meals By Genet, The Nickel Diner, Barney Greengrass, LA MILL, BLD, Tiara Café, Fred 62, Auntie Em's, Cafe De Leche, Euro Pane Bakery, Good Girl Dinette, Handsome Coffee, The Hungry Cat, Kobawoo House and Square One.

Tickets to LA Weekly's Pancake Breakfast are $30, and go on sale tomorrow, Thursday, June 28 right here. No tickets will be sold at the door. Please remember that.

Check back for more updates as the event nears. A portion of the ticket proceeds benefit Project Angelfood. Sponsors include Birchware, Palm Springs, KIND Healthy Grains,

Pressed Juice, Art of Tea, Urbanspoon and Smart Water.
