Huntington Park-based La Monarca Bakery, which now has four locations in the L.A. area, debuted its newest branch in Pasadena today.

The sprawling home-grown Mexican bakery, home to as wide an array of bollios, pan dulces, quiches, postres, tortas and any other Pan-Latin baked good you could hope for, is located on the Mission station of the Metro's Gold Line and next door to the Thursday night South Pasadena farmers market.

La Monarca Bakery will be also offering the chewy holiday sweet bread Rosca de Reyes (Mexican Epiphany Bread) at all of its locations. Striped with bits of dried fruit and dusted with sugar, it's a sizable improvement of the standard fruitcake — plus, it's got a miniature Jesus figurine hidden inside.

Whole rings are available by ordering either the medium ($22) or the large ($40) sizes, or you can simply buy a slice or two at the store. Cakes will be available through January 6th.
