L.A. Weekly Managing Editor Jill Stewart will make an appearance on KCET's SoCal Connected tonight to talk about the city's shocking hit-and-run epidemic with host Val Zavala and special contributor Madeleine Brand.

The program airs at 7 p.m. and will delve into the facts in last week's cover story, authored by Simone Wilson: Namely, that an incredible 48 percent of crashes in Los Angeles were hit-and-runs. Yet the Los Angeles Police Department has done little to address the problem in a systemic way — and, in fact, often fails to investigate even those cases with evidence left at the crash scene. We highly recommend you tune in.

While we're tooting our own horn, we should also give a shot-out to contributor Anna Jones, whose piece about flying to work drew the attention of American Public Media. Jones was interviewed about her experience for The Story with Dick Gordon, which airs locally on KPCC at 8 p.m. weeknights, as well as numerous other stations throughout the country.

Unfortunately, that broadcast is in the rearview mirror, but you can still listen to the podcast. Hooray!

Finally, if you're a magic fan, we hear our Nov. 30 cover featuring Derek DelGaudio and Helder Guimarães plays a role in the pair's sold-out show at the Geffen, Nothing to Hide.

What kind of role? Hey, we're about to give up the magicians' secrets — and even if we were, it's not like we've been able to get in to see the show. It's the hottest ticket in town!
