Do you obsess over typos? Does bad grammar make you cringe? Do you find yourself grating your teeth every time we confuse “convince” and “persuade”?

We might be able to help — and by that, we mean help you help us.

The L.A. Weekly has a rare opening for a freelance copy editor. We're looking for someone who can serve as a backup for our full-time crew — assisting by proofreading the issue on the occasional weekend and filling in at the office some weekdays as we put the print issue to bed.

Knowledge of AP style is a must (and yes, there will be a test). Because there is some training involved, the ideal candidate is someone who's looking for flexible work going forward — not filling a gap between full-time positions.

If that doesn't scare you, please send a cover letter and résumé to sfenske@laweekly.com.
