L.A. Weekly's Movie Picks are your look at the hottest films in Los Angeles theaters this week — from indie art-house gems and classics to popcorn-perfect blockbusters and new movies garnering buzz. Check our Film section every week before you make your big-screen plans.

Friday, Feb. 8

What Men Want takes the premise of Nancy Meyers' What Women Want and flips it around. Taraji P. Henson plays a female sports agent who challenges the gender bias in her industry after imbibing a shamanistic potion (given to her by a perfectly cast Erykah Badu) that gives her access to men's inner thoughts. Tracy Morgan plays the male client who emits the most cogitation. Adam Shankman (Hairspray, A Walk to Remember) directs a screenplay by Tina Gordon, Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck.

(If you really want to know what men want (or don't want), grab the popcorn and settle in to read the flurry of anti-feminist comments under this trailer on YouTube. They just might be more entertaining than the movie itself! Ed.)
