As we move closer to summer months and temperatures start to rise, air conditioned businesses are few and far between due to the lockdown. Because of this, L.A. County has announced the opening of emergency cooling facilities intended to provide relief from the heat.

These indoor centers will be and located at 10 different parks, libraries and auditoriums, and open between noon and 6  p.m. beginning next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The cooling centers will be free to the public, and officials encourage Angelenos to call ahead to confirm “seating availability” within each center.

Physical distancing protocol will still be in effect at the centers.

The county also added a general reminder to avoid the sun at peak hours, drink fluids, avoid alcohol and pace yourself when doing any exercise.

While there are currently only 10 centers, more may be added at a later time, depending on the severity of the weather.
