You hear stories about teachers going off the deep end in frustration, ranting at their students like lunatics mad at the world.

But you rarely actually hear it for yourself. Well, now you can. A teacher went off on students at the separate Humanities and Art Academy on the campus of Narbonne High School last month, and one of the pupils captured it with an audio recording (after the jump) that has gone viral:

The educator says (listen to the recording here):

Don't f— with that. I'm tired of trying to educate you, and you guys resist every step of the f—ing way. Get the f— out of here.

A female giggling is heard right after that.

The teacher was placed on administrative leave and the L.A. Unified School District is investigating the incident, a district spokeswoman told L.A. Weekly.

According to the Daily Breeze, which broke the story, the woman, whose identity was withheld by the paper, was leading 12th graders in a discussion on race and ethnicity when she started to lash out verbally Sept. 26.

One student, whom the teacher says had been heckling her, recorded the incident and then brought it to a teacher who has been a foe of the ranter, according to accounts given to the Breeze.

The teacher said she was sorry, but she didn't sound like it:

This girl took my moment of weakness and used it against me. And then the teacher (at Narbonne) egged (the student) on to send it to her, and then they disseminated it. It's just cruel.

When this lowly reporter was in high school, we had a math teacher whose signature line was, “You ain't goin' nowhere.” We always took it as an inspiration to try to go somewhere.
