Dennis RomeroDakkari McAnuff, a 20-year-old downtown resident, was arrested by the LAPD yesterday after he allegedly issued this challenged on Twitter:
“100 RTs and I'll shoot someone walking.” RTs means re-tweets. Police said the statement was accompanied by “multiple pictures displaying an unknown type of rifle pointing in the direction of various Los Angles city streets.”

… it was just an air rifle and not a full-fledged firearm that shoots bullets, LAPD Officer Sara Faden told us.
The arrest happened in the 900 block of West Ninth Street downtown yesterday. L.A. County Sheriff's Department inmate data shows he was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Cops at the LAPD's Central Division station became aware of the Twitter posts about 9:30 a.m. yesterday, according to a department statement.
Cops used social media to track down the suspect, they said. They even figured out “the location the pictures were taken,” the LAPD stated.
The Twitter account was suspended. We found cached versions of the Twitter statements in question, however:
Despite the “mission completed” comment, police don't believe anyone was actually targeted or injured, Faden said.
McAnuff was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats, the LAPD says. Sheriff's inmate data says he was being held behind bars in lieu of $50,000 bail.

The suspect's Facebook page says he's from Chicago but went to William B. Travis High School in Richmond, Texas.
