Extra sheriff's deputies and canine bomb-sniffing dogs were added to subway security in Los Angeles following terrorist bombings on Moscow commuter trains that killed more than 36 people Monday.

The extra law enforcement was added as a precaution, with no indication that there was any particular threat to L.A.'s Metro subway system as a result of the dual Moscow bombings. “This is just a precaution,'' said Rick Jager of Metro.”There have been no threats against transit property in the United States.''

“Metro will remain diligent in its efforts to provide the safest system for passengers,” writes Metro blogger Kim Upton. “LA Sheriffs will be adjusting schedules and shifts to provide added coverage as long as necessary to ensure the safety of the Metro system.”
