Elise MontecastroEvery second Sunday of the month in Pasadena is the famous Rose Bowl Flea Market, one of L.A.'s longest-running flea markets, featuring tons of vendors selling their goods, from vintage and period clothing to antique furnishings.
Something about outdoor flea markets always attracts people with amazing and eclectic sartorial taste. I saw so many trends all in one place yesterday — brightly colored denim, floppy Western fedoras, studded loafers — everything under that hot blazing sun.
The outfits that stood out the most yesterday actually came in groups. Friends and couples with like-minded tastes in dressing made for amazing compositions of colors, textures and proportions. Click through to see what I mean.

These girls have layering down pat. They were the first set of people I saw when entering the market, and they all had such a cool vibe sitting together, chatting about their finds while smoking on their stogies.

Another rad example of print and texture mixing. These guys had such cool elements in each of their outfits. Ryan, to the left, is wearing the ever-cool Grey Ant sunglasses. Fez, in the middle, had on a hologram cap. And Kelly's outfit? Everything she was wearing was cool — from her platform Converse to her star-patterned leggings to the peace-sign necklace she made out of an old Christmas ornament.

This couple looked like the definition of effortless summer dressing. Aaron's cotton pants were purchased during a trip in Rio, Brazil (of course!), and Karissa's halter crop top by Free People is the perfect accompaniment to her nude lace maxi skirt, a sweet find from Forever 21.

Black pants always makes for a cool, bad-ass look. This trio's look caught my eye while they were looking over a huge spread of vintage leather shoes. The girl in the middle studded her own Toms — sick.

Lucy and Shannon's outfits complement each other so sweetly. I love the easy silhouette of Shannon's tiered dress by All Saints, and look at that amazing army green color of Lucy's accordion skirt — it's paired perfectly with a navy blue blazer.

Another accordion skirt! The length of this wispy white one hits just perfectly above this girl's knee, and I love how she toughened up the skirt with a black vintage T-shirt and leather jacket. This trio was checking out the vintage clothing section of the flea market when I spotted them.

Each of these ladies have great individual style, and together they had such a strong look going on. I love how their clothing speaks volumes about their personalities, and no two girls are dressed alike.

This couple's style was my personal fave of the day. Tony is the one who usually seeks out vintage apparel for Debbie, his wife, and himself. He has on a suit made in the 1930s through the National Recovery Act (NRA), an agency created by FDR. Debbie is wearing an amazing dress from the 1940s that fits her like a glove — it features a darted waist, side zipper and buttons up the back. This is true period dressing, at its finest.
