Now, those communities are among those that offer the most expensive apartments in town.
The latest Los Angeles Rent Report from Apartment List ranks the highest-priced rental neighborhoods in L.A. The site analyzes millions of for-rent listings nationwide to come up with its monthly report. Its rankings are based on median, two-bedroom leases.
Westwood, with a two-bedroom price of $4,000 per month, remained the high-price champ in the L.A. market. Marina del Rey, where a two-bedroom fetches $3,730, was second. At $3,200, downtown came in third, with Hollywood and Studio City coming in fourth and fifth at $2,900 and $2,830, respectively.
The report found that July rents were up 0.4 percent compared with June and 3.2 percent compared with a year ago.
Pasadena rents were up a notable 8 percent, compared with July 2015, Apartment List found. A median-priced two-bedroom apartment there will cost you $2,640.
Nationally, L.A. ranked sixth among American cities with the highest two-bed median leases in July. New York knocked San Francisco off the top of the list with a median of $5,130. Ouch.
