It's a great month for wintertime residencies around town, but we're particularly pumped about tonight's Xu Xu Fang/Manimal Vinyl showcase at the Echo. Manimal Vinyl's been on a roll of late. Their new two-CD collection, Perfect as Cats: A Tribute to the Cure, draws on some of LA's most intriguing musicians (and a few East Coasters and Londoners) to honor Robert Smith and company's ouevre. It hasn't left our car stereo in days, and one of the highlights is Xu Xu Fang, who transform “Fascination Street” into a deep psychedelic meditation. It's a beautiful recording, actually, one of many on the collection. They play tonight with Winter Flowers, Exitmusic and Corridor (who turn the Cure's “The Kiss” upside down wtih feedback on the collection.) This should be a great night of music — and no cover.

Spaceland in Silver Lake continues with its Movies residency. They're joined by Rademacher, Vibeslayer and Sarah Negahdari.

At the Silver Lake Lounge tonight are: The Color Turning, Local Natives, Union Line and French Miami.

Pehrspace features

a Sean Carnage production: Cristopher Cichocki curates, and performs a

video set, as well as music from Realicide, Halloween Swim Team,

Sikhara, and Aymeric Hainaux.

OR: You could hang out in front of the Forum and scream insults at

Australians before (and after) AC/DC.
