The Republican Party of Los Angeles County is planning a demonstration Tuesday against the city of Los Angeles' boycott of Arizona over its controversial immigration law. The event is scheduled to take place at 8:45 a.m. on the lawn outside City Hall.

Gary Aminoff, vice chairman of the county GOP, states that “there are citizens of Los Angeles who do not approve the boycott of Arizona” and that “the City of Los Angeles has turned out to be a sanctuary city where illegal immigrants are free to enter, to live, to use our social services and will never be challenged.”

Aminoff argues that the City Council's vote to boycott Arizona business was made solely to “pander” to the Latino vote. He also echoes sentiment that California has a law on the books that is similar to Arizona's.

The desert state's law encourages police to check the immigration status of people they detain who are suspected of being in the United States illegally.

“The State of Arizona has been severely impacted by the effect of illegal immigrants entering their state,” Aminoff states. ” Crime, including violent crime and murders, has increased substantially committed by illegal immigrants. The fiscal impact on the budget of the State of Arizona by illegal immigrants has been devastating.”
