LA Weekly kicked serious butt in the list of L.A. Press Club's National Entertainment Journalism Awards finalists, which were announced yesterday, racking up 14 nominations, more than any other publication.

Our theater critic-reporter and editor-at-large Steven Leigh Morris was nommed in the entertainment journalist of the year category for both his reviews and reported pieces. He'll face off against Deadline's Nellie Andreeva, Bloomberg News' Ronald Grover, Radar's Dylan Howard, KABC-TV's George Pennacchio and NBC-4′s Tara Wallis-Finestone.

LA Weekly is also a finalist in the entertainment publication of the year category.

LA Weekly's other nominees were:

-Both Steven and Karina Longworth for critic of the year

–Gustavo Turner's music columns and Gendy Alimurung's entertainment-related Candyland pieces, in the columnist category.

-Gustavo's Insane Clown Posse story and Karina's piece on the restoration of the movie Wanda in the feature categories

-Steven's piece on Pee Wee Herman and Karina on Elvira for best personality profile

-Our online coverage of Coachella (from Keith Plocek, Josh “Curious Josh” Reiss, Lina Lecaro, Wendy Gilmartin, Drew Tewksbury and Jena Ardell), plus Jonathan Gold's piece on Nate Dogg's death, in the online feature category

-Our Facebook presence and a tweet by Keith, our web editor.

The winners will be announced Nov. 17 at the Biltmore Hotel.
