In the middle of the scenic San Fernando Valley stood a 14,000-square-foot warehouse. And in this warehouse, cops say, was much weed.

So much weed, in fact, that the operation allegedly churned out $3.7 million dollars with of street-value marijuana every two months, the Los Angeles Police Department announced in a statement this week. That would be an alleged $22 million worth of pot a year.

This agriculture was so fruitful, cops state, that it posed a danger:

Officials from the Department of Water and Power and Building and Safety also responded to the location because the warehouse was using dangerous amounts of electricity. As a safety precaution, all electrical lines attached to the building were removed.

Yeah.

The raid happened in an industrial part of Van Nuys Sept. 4, but cops didn't tell us about until this week. Details (like the exact location of the place) were withheld.

It feels like this ain't over. In fact, police did say that “more arrests are anticipated.”

The Thursday search-warrant action included four arrests and the seizure of 720 pounds of marijuana. Police said the warehouse had been “converted into a large marijuana cultivation operation.”

The location allegedly included 20 makeshift rooms with more than 3,000 plants in various stages of growth, they said. Hashish-making gear was also seized, according to investigators.

Though they haven't really given us much of it, detectives are hoping folks will come forward with more info about this operation. Drop a dime: 818-374-0040.
