A ton of musicians, including a large number from Los Angeles, came together in May to release the single “Flatten the Curve.” With all all proceeds going to Sweet Relief and Jubilee Consortium, the message of the song during these troubling times is clear: keep your distance, wear a mask, and let’s do the right thing during this pandemic.

Now, there’s a video to go along with the song too. In keeping with the spirit of the single, the visual was recorded by each performer at home, directed by Frank Meyer and then edited together later.

Performers that you can spot in there include Meyer (Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs), Lisa Kekaula (Bellrays), Cherie Currie (Runaways), Eddie Spaghetti (Supersuckers), Ben Weasel (Screeching Weasel), Wendy Stonehenge (Glitter Wizard), Tony Reflex (Adolescents), Suzi Moon and Michelle Balderama (LA Machina), Josie Cotton, Savannah Pope, Mike Watt (Minutemen, Stooges), Norwood Fisher (bass), Billy Rowe (Jetboy), Brian Forsythe (Kix), Paul Roessler (Screamers) and Deniz Tek (Radio Birdman), among many others.

“Right when the pandemic started and we were all being encouraged to stay home, Bruce Duff called me and said maybe we should write a song about it to help encourage people to do the right thing,” says Meyer. “We thought this would make a good excuse to raise some money for charities Sweet Relief and Jubilee Consortium. So we started reaching out to artists all over the world. Over 30 musicians signed up and contributed, including members of the Runaways, Radio Birdman, Minutemen, Fishbone, Supersuckers, Screeching Weasel, kix, JetBoy, Cadillac Tramps, Josie Cotton and many more. I wrote the song while Bruce produced the track. Teamwork makes the dream work. Once the song was released (as FTC, on Spotify and elsewhere) we decided it needed a visual so we asked all the artists to film themselves performing their part and I cut it all into a massive music video that features everyone! It’s really fun to see so many musically diverse folks doing their thing in or near their home and for such a good cause.  The whole thing just reeks of fun…and responsibility?  usually those two things don’t go hand-in-hand.”

“Flatten the Curve” is available now via Spotify.
