Ah-ha! We told you so. Last month when Los Angeles bombed in a NerdWallet ranking of LGBT-friendly cities, we thought we might have been underestimated.

Well, our annual L.A. Pride festivities must have blown someone away, because the publication Vocativ took a look at “The 35 Most LGBT-Friendly Cities in America” and declared that we're number 1!

Even L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti was psyched by the showing. He says:

Los Angeles and its people know that our differences are our greatest strength. We've always been a place where people come to be themselves and live their dreams. We're creative, we're tolerant, we're a global example and I'm proud to see that recognized.

… 32 data sets to measure 16 different factors, from livability indicators like same-sex marriage laws and the rate of hate crimes, to lifestyle metrics like the concentration of out singles and the availability of hookup opportunities.

Los Angeles is, then, scientifically, unequivocally, the gay capital of America, a fact we will not deny. The publication says this about our fair city:

While the state itself has the highest number of queer-friendly cities, L.A. is definitely the jewel in its crown. It ranks high across most categories, but it's especially good for couples – with access to marriage and a comparatively straightforward adoption process. However, it's also a sexy city.

You know this.
