If a national online real estate broker told you L.A. was the best party house town in the nation, you might yawn. After all, this is the home of the Playboy mansion, many a hillside venue, and this place.

We know how to do this.

But it's nice to be recognized for our achievements once in a while. Just in time for the holidays the firm ZipReality looked at 1.7 million real-estate listings and crunched the data based on home entertaining:

The site gave high marks for cities that had a lot of listings with these elements, according to a statement:

-Outdoor features such as pools, patios, decks, and large backyards.

-Open or large floor plans

-Higher-than-average listing price.

We have all those things in spades. And we had the most listings that fit the criteria.

ZipRealty gives some examples of the ultimate SoCal party houses, including 613 Mountain Drive (pictured on the first page), a $25 million estate we'd hate to trash with our party friends.

ZipReality:

L.A. has a rich history of multiple architectural influences – ranging from the Spanish Colonials to classic Tudors to modern design – resulting in an eclectic variety of home styles to choose from.

ZipRealty CEO Lanny Baker says you don't have to have a hillside manse to make your place party-ready (and thus, more attractive to the market).

“Adding an umbrella, chairs and table in the backyard may add as much value as applying a fresh coat of paint,” he says.

Here are the top 5 party house towns in America, according to the site:

1) Los Angeles

2) Denver

3) Dallas

4) Phoenix

5) Houston

Of course, as the listings show, you have to pay to play.
