Update, April 11: “S.F. Giants Fans on Craigslist Declare Today 'Beat a Dodger Day,' Encourage 'Murder of a Dodgers Fan.'“

Leave it to a couple psychotic Los Angeles loyals to darken what should have been a proud MLB Opening Day victory (pitched to perfection by the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw) with an extreme act of turf violence.

LAPD investigators told the Los Angeles Times that two attackers in L.A. Dodgers clothing tore through the stadium parking lot just after the game last night — which ended 2-1 Dodgers — and took out their adrenaline on three men in San Francisco Giants gear, “kicking and punching them and shouting expletives about the Giants as they delivered the blows.” As if a well-fought win against the World Series champions wasn't enough.

One of the victims suffered a critical head wound, and is still being treated in the hospital.

The brutish show of hometown pride decidedly trumps the April 2009 stabbing in the same parking lot, likewise following an Opening Day match between the Dodgers and the Giants.

Yesterday, a more peaceful battle took place in the hour-and-a-half leading up to the tight game, when San Francisco Giants fans unveiled a 50-foot-by-75-foot “Beat L.A.” banner pulled across the sky by a traitorous SoCal pilot. Local blog LA Taco answered back with its own “Giants Suck” banner, unleashing a Twitter war over whose was better.

All this, after Giants pitcher Barry Zito had an eerily timed car accident in West Hollywood on Wednesday night.

If not for the assault, it would have been a great day for police: Public intoxication arrests plummeted from 130 on Opening Day 2010 to only two this year.

Los Angeles police were searching Friday for two Dodgers fans responsible for assaulting and critically injuring a man wearing San Francisco Giants apparel following Thursday's game. …

The unprovoked attack occurred about 8:30 p.m. in Parking Lot 2 when two men in Dodgers clothing approached three victims in Giants apparel, police said.

Update: Here's how the LAPD describes last night's little incident.

Yesterday, around 8:25 p.m., the 41-year-old victim, was leaving Dodger Stadium along with several of his friends, following the conclusion of the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. the San Francisco Giants baseball game. The two suspects who were clad in Dodger attire began taunting the victims because of their affiliation with the San Francisco Giants. As the victim and his friends attempted to walk away from the suspects, the victim was hit from behind and fell to the ground. The suspects then kicked the victim as he lay on the ground. The victim's friends attempted to intervene and they too were hit by the suspects. The two suspects were last seen leaving Section 2 of the parking lot.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital to treat a head injury. The victim is in critical, but stable condition. The other two victims were treated for minor injuries and released at scene.

The suspects are described as two male Hispanics between 18 to 25 years-old, wearing dodger clothing.
