Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near McKinley Avenue
HIGHLANDS, CA (July 11, 2022) – Authorities arrested Kyle Michael Cornwell VI after a hit-and-run on Baseline Street, Saturday evening.
On the evening of July 2nd, a man driving a white Dodge Ram struck a pedestrian along Baseline Street. Dispatchers responded to the scene around 10:00 p.m.
Upon impact, the involved driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the severely injured victim. Due to the extent of his condition, EMS later pronounced the 56-year-old male pedestrian dead at the scene.
San Bernardino Sheriffs gathered evidence, including multiple witness statements, that helped identify the involved vehicle. The information eventually led to sheriffs locating and arresting 24-year-old Cornwell at his home.
Kyle Michael Cornwell VI has since been booked on suspicion of hit-and-run and causing a fatality. Currently, officials have not released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin.
Additionally, San Diego Police encourage anyone with information about the Baseline Street hit-and-run to contact local authorities as soon as possible. Once available, further details will be provided.
