Assistant Fire Chief Dies in Traffic Accident on Mariposa Road

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (June 17, 2022) – Saturday night, Kurt Pettitt died in a head-on collision on Jack Tone Road.

The crash happened  around 9:15 p.m., June 11th just north of Mariposa Road. Per reports, a DUI driver struck Pettitt’s car head-on and ejected him from the vehicle.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced Pettitt dead at the scene. Meanwhile, his passenger suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital for further treatment.

The 20-year-old intoxicated driver was later arrested for DUI charges. At this time, an active investigation is still underway.

No further details about the crash are available at this time. However, authorities will release new information once available.
