All anyone can talk about this morning, aside from that stupid 3.7-mag in Marina Del Rey, is 22-year-old Kristen Stewart's far-from-alleged fling with 41-year-old Los Angeles director Rupert Sanders on the set of Snow White and the Huntsman.

They're pictured making out in the new issue of US Weekly.

Yes, there is a civil war raging in Syria. But how to tear our hearts from the true Hollywood story of a married director cheating with the same young hot starlet…

… who's starring in his latest blockbuster, and who happens to be dating the glittering vampire boy from Twilight??

Stewart issued the following public apology to Robert Pattinson, who she has finally acknowledged as her boyfriend, this morning:

“I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry.”

Soon after, following in his lover's very mature footsteps, Sanders issued his own apology.

“I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”

Sanders is originally from England, but he and his supermodel wife Liberty Ross, 33 — who actually plays Stewart's mother, Queen Eleanor, in the movie — re-located to L.A. about a decade ago for his career. They're currently raising two young kids in their fancy Hollywood Hills mansion.

Ross reportedly Tweeted the word “Wow” before deleting her account this morning. [Update: Looks like she may have also Instagrammed an image of cartoon Snow White crying and chugging booze. The caption? “Not so pretty or so pure afterall …..”. That account is now private.] The director's wife had been in good spirits over the weeks prior, posing with Stewart and Co. at the Snow White premiere and talking about how proud she was of the movie.

But on the set of the film, which was predominantly shot in 2011, sources tell LA Weekly that the sexual tension between Stewart and Sanders was palpable.

Although the production staff was betting (in pure speculation) that Sanders might set his sights on Charlize Theron, who played the evil queen, it soon became clear that the director had “a thing” for Stewart, our sources say.

Their chemistry is said to have been palpable on set. And it became much more than palpable during this creepy US Weekly photo shoot, which the tabloid says took place just one week ago, on July 17:

“It seemed like they couldn't get enough,” the photographer told Us Weekly. And — sorry Rob — we have heard rumors that Sanders is a total stud in person. Which of course doesn't make him, or his mistress, any less of a scumbag.

Update: Here's what Pattinson told the Italian version of Vanity Fair in April.

“But there's a thing I've never got: That is, why do people cheat? I can understand the impulse, but not how you can keep two relationships going at the same time for long. I'm not the casual-affair kind of guy. If I choose to be with someone, it's because I really want it. When I have a relationship, I'm 100 percent into it.”
