Good news for SoCal metal fans: Knotfest returns this fall for a second year to San Manuel Amphitheater and Campgrounds in San Bernardino. While there's no word yet whether host band Slipknot will once again attempt to permeate the festival grounds with the pungent “Scent of Slipknot,” we do know that this year's lineup does not stink. In fact, it looks pretty freakin' awesome.
In addition to headliners Slipknot (obvs), Judas Priest, Korn, Mastodon and Bring Me the Horizon, the fest features such metal powerhouses as Corrosion of Conformity, Trivium, Clutch, Cannibal Corpse and that always-entertaining spectacle of fake blood and monster suits, GWAR. There's also some solid hip-hop at this year's Knotfest, including Ghostface Killah and Mobb Deep, and an entire “extreme” stage dedicated to death metal in the form of bands such as Kataklysm, Six Feet Under and Abysmal Dawn. In all, over 50 bands on four stages will keep the mosh pits churning for three straight nights. (See below for lineup announced so far.)
Knotfest will take place October 24 and 25, with a special pre-party night on October 23 for VIPs and anyone who buys an onsite camping pass. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today (Monday, June 29) and are available at www.knotfest.com.
