A man who allegedly killed a Hollywood Boulevard street performer just off of a busy stretch of the Walk of Fame as bars were letting out was captured on security video, police said.

The Los Angeles Police Department released the video, which depicts a man with dreadlocks walking casually on the boulevard near the scene of the crime, with the hope that someone might recognize him and turn the guy in for questioning.

 … cops on foot patrol were very nearby, heard the gunfire, and found the victim, 29-year-old Jeffrey Dale, “down and unconscious” on Las Palmas Avenue near Hollywood Boulevard, according to an LAPD statement.

It happened at 2:01 a.m. on May 30, a Friday, cops said.

Police told us that Dale was a musical performer who had just finished working on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue and was strolling just a few short blocks away when he was murdered.

Responding paramedics discovered the man had been shot once in the chest, the LAPD said. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

The suspect was described as African American, 25- 30-years-old, about 5 feet, 8 inches, with a thin build and those telltale, shoulder-length dreadlocks. The LAPD added:

He walks with a limp that favors his left leg. He has possibly been seen in the Hollywood Area.
