51-Year-Old Rider Fatally Injured in Motorcycle Accident near Platina

SHASTA COUNTY, CA (August 31, 2022) – Late Sunday afternoon, a motorcycle crash on Highway 36 claimed the life of Kevin Burgess.

The fatal accident occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m., just west of Platina.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the rider of a motorcycle lost control on a curve and veered off the roadway, before striking a nearby tree.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, responding medical personnel later declared 51-year-old Burgess dead at the scene.

Following preliminary investigations, Shasta County Officials said that alcohol was not a factor in the collision. In addition, investigators say Burgess was wearing a helmet at the time.
