A Southern California man was behind bars today after being accused of extorting women whose nude and compromising photos were posted to his so-called revenge porn site, known as U Got Posted.

Twenty-seven-year-old Kevin Christopher Bollaert of San Diego was arrested this morning after he was charged in a 31-count case that includes allegations of conspiracy, identity theft and extortion, the state Attorney General's office announced today:

If prosecutors are to be believed, Bollaert had a slick shakedown operation not only with the revenge porn site, which has been taken down, but with a sister site, changemyreputation.com.

The Attorney General's office alleges that when ugotposted.com received takedown requests from victims they would be referred to changemyreputation.com, where they would be charged $299 to $350 to get their photos nixed.

The women would have good reason to want to get their info off U Got Posted: Authorities say that the site required detailed info on them when jilted lovers posted the pics, including full names, locations, ages and even links to their Facebook pages.

The criminal complaint and arrest warrant for Bollaert list 14 victims and quote email receipts from changemyreputation.com that dipicted $249 take-down purchases.

Attorney General Kamala Harris said this in a statement today:

This website published intimate photos of unsuspecting victims and turned their public humiliation and betrayal into a commodity with the potential to devastate lives. Online predators that profit from the extortion of private photos will be investigated and prosecuted for this reprehensible and illegal internet activity.

The sister sites were created in October and December of last year, prosecutors allege. Bollaert got $900 a month in advertising revenue alone and earned tens of thousands from the scam, the Attorney General's office claims.

U Got Posted has reportedly been sued in Southern California and Ohio over the alleged posting of photos of underage girls.

Bollaert was being held behind bars in San Diego in lieu of $30,000 bail, prosecutors said. He could face jail time and fines, they said.

And that sounds like the people's revenge to us.
