81-Year-Old Man Dead after Car Crash near Fort Bragg
MENDOCINO, CA (December 13, 2022) – Friday night, Kenneth Wickstrom was killed in a car accident along Highway 20.
The crash occurred around 7:45 p.m., near the city of Fort Bragg on California’s Mendocino Coast.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an eastbound 2007 Cadillac drove off the road for unknown reasons. The vehicle continued down a steep embankment, causing it to overturn and hit several trees before coming to a stop.
Responding emergency crews pronounced the driver dead at the scene, due to the extent of their injuries. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s office later identified the deceased driver as 81-year-old Wickstrom, from Willits.
Authorities said that intoxication did not play a factor in the car accident. Furthermore, a large portion of the surrounding area was temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties, but has since reopened.
Mendocino Officials will release additional information as it becomes available.
