Rollover Crash Along Red Mountain Freeway Left Woman Killed, Driver Arrested

MESA, AZ (February 21, 2022) – On Sunday, a rollover crash on Loop 202 Freeway claimed the life of Kendra Van Horn, authorities said.

According to the DPS, the identified Avondale driver, Rubios Banks was driving at a speed of 100 mph when he struck a footbridge on the eastbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway near Gilbert Road.

Consequently the identified passenger, Van Horn, died after being thrown from the vehicle while it overturned.

Meanwhile, Banks was found guilty of possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, and consuming alcohol before the impact.

As a result, police arrested Banks and booked him into jail. He was also charged with manslaughter.

No further information has been made available to the public; however, an active investigation is currently underway.
