Simi Valley Motorcycle Crash Kills Elderly Rider

SIMI VALLEY, CA (July 16, 2021) – Authorities identified the body of Keith Sanbonmatsu as the victim in the Simi Valley motorcycle accident.

The incident happened around 1:15 p.m., at First Street and Los Angeles Avenue, said Simi Valley Police.

According to reports, Sanbonmatsu rode directly into the path of an SUV while traveling northbound on First Street. The driver of the SUV was described as a 17-year-old girl from Simi Valley.

As a result of the impact, Sanbonmatsu suffered critical injuries. Paramedics transported him to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks. There, he was pronounced dead around 8:30 p.m.

Later on, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the rider as 69-year-old Keith Sanbonmatsu of Arroyo.

Neither speed nor DUI were considered factors in the crash, which remains under active investigation. Once available, more details will be given.
