One Pronounced Dead after Multi-Car Collision near Guadalupe Road

TEMPE, AZ (November 16, 2022) – Sunday, Katie TerBeest was killed and multiple were hurt in a pedestrian collision on Interstate 10.

The incident happened just before 12:30 a.m., near Guadalupe Road on November 13th.

Per reports, an officer was standing outside of a DPS vehicle while working in the area for a nearby car fire. There, the driver of a Hyundai sedan struck the trooper’s vehicle and spun out into the emergency lane, striking three people standing near the fire.

The involved police officer, the driver, the passenger of the vehicle, and the three pedestrians suffered injuries and were transported to a hospital.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, the passenger was later pronounced dead. They were later identified as 33-year-old Katie TerBeest, of Tempe.

In addition, the officer was reported to be in stable condition. Both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
