When asked to the prom by a creepy kid with a video camera, Kate Upton did what any girl would and politely turned him down.

That, at least, is our reading of the super-hottie's response to the imaginative come-on by L.A. high schooler Jake Davidson.

Upton played it like a polite woman from Asia, never actually saying no:

I'm not sure if I'll be able to go with him or not, due to my schedule. I want to, but I just don't know if I can make it work. But I really appreciated being asked; it made me feel really great!

That's what she told People magazine this week.

Davidson hoped to woo her to his senior prom May 23 at Milken Community High School in Sherman Oaks.

The 17-year-old made a YouTube video that went viral. In it he displayed a Richard Lewis-like command of self-effacing, Jewish humor (“I'm Jewish, 5-9 on a really good day, and I can't dance … ) in an attempt to get her attention.

He did. Upton gave him points for trying:

When a guy has a good sense of humor and confidence, that's attractive. This video was creative and funny. It made me laugh, and everyone loves a good laugh!

Upton probably gets daily offers from billionaires just to be near her dirty laundry for an hour, so we can't blame her for continuing to keep her priorities straight.

And, kid, welcome to the next phase of life, college, where all the hot chicks will turn you down. At least you're well-prepared.
