35-Year-Old Woman Killed in Speeding Accident on University Drive, Man Arrested

MESA, AZ (August 4, 2022) – Sunday afternoon, Kasey Galvan was killed and Mario Galvan was arrested after a DUI crash on Gilbert Road.

The collision happened just after 3:00 p.m., at the intersection of Gilbert Road and University Drive.

Per reports, Galvin was speeding south in a Nissan Sentra on Gilbert Road when he struck a metal pole. The impact caused life-threatening injuries to his wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

Medical personnel arrived and later pronounced 35-year-old Kasey dead at the scene.

Officers say Galvan’s speech was slurry, and he smelled of alcohol. Authorities conducted a field sobriety test, and he registered a .063 blood alcohol content (BAC). As a result, Galvan was taken into custody and is being held on a $250,000 bond.

A large portion of the roadway was temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
