5-Year-Old Girl Dead and 2 Other Children Injured after a DUI Crash on Interstate 15

SAN DIEGO, CA (July 29, 2021) – 27-year-old Kapri Raven Coleman was arrested after killing one of her three children in a DUI crash on Interstate 15.

The tragic crash happened around 2:25 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13th in the area of I-15 south of Old Highway 395 near Gopher Canyon Road.

According to reports, Coleman was driving a 2009 Hyundai Genesis with her three children inside when she veered off northbound I-15 near Gopher Canyon Road. Then the car went down an embankment and flipped.

As a result of the crash, Coleman’s daughters, ages 5 and 3, were thrown from the vehicle, while her 1-year-old son was discovered in a child seat inside the vehicle.

Tragically, the 5-year-old girl died at the scene, and the two other children were critically injured. Medics airlifted the two children to Rady Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Coleman was eventually booked into the Las Colinas women’s jail in Santee after being released from the hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Authorities currently believe that drugs or alcohol were factors, and the driver is expected to face multiple charges, such as felony DUI causing death.
