Man Dead after DUI Accident on Quincy La Porte Road, Kalob Rice Arrested

SACRAMENTO, CA (August 24, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, Kalob Rice was arrested following a DUI crash on Quincy La Porte Road. The fatal incident occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m., near La Porte Road. Officers arrived at the scene shortly after. According to the CHP, Kalob Rice, 22, was driving a Dodge Ram southbound, while a 59-year-old Clipper Mills man was driving a Chevrolet Blazer northbound. The two cars crashed head-on, and the driver of the Blazer died as a result of his injury. Rice was detained on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated after allegedly displaying indicators of drug impairment. He was transferred to Adventist Health/Rideout Hospital in Marysville for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash. According to the complaint, he was booked into Yuba County Jail after being discharged from the medical facility. At this time, no further information has been released regarding the fatal crash.
