Even if you don’t know that you know Kaleena Zanders’ voice, chances are you do. She’s lent her vocals to tracks by electronic artists such as Loud Luxury, Breathe Carolina, Morgan Page, Moon Boots, SNBRN, and AC Slater. But she’s ready to put herself out there as a solo artist, and indie-funk anthem “Set Me Off” is her new single.

The song, she says, is about the sort of frustrations she’s experienced since school. “When I was entering Middle School, I remember getting so mad at the kids who would bully other students,” she said in a press release. “I would legitimately stand up for the underdogs. Being older, I see that not much has changed — I still get frustrated with social injustice and music industry challenges. ‘SET ME OFF’ is my way of taking a stand creatively.”

The song is a powerful show of strength, both lyrically but also sonically. It’s certainly funky but it also rocks hard; it has soul and it’s hard-hitting. Check it out below…
