36-Year-Old Driver Dies in Wrong-Way Collision near Hearn Avenue

SANTA ROSA, CA (April 7, 2022) – A wrong-way crash on Highway 101 claimed the life of Justino Gomez Rojas early Sunday, police said.

Per authorities, the deadly rash happened around 2:00 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the highway near the Hearn Avenue exit.

For reasons unknown, Rojas was driving a Toyota Tacoma south in the northbound lanes of the highway. As a result, he crashed head-on into an oncoming Ford Explorer.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, first responders declared 36-year-old Rojas dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the woman driving the Explorer received significant injuries that were determined to be non-life-threatening. Medical personnel transported her to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

At this time, Santa Rosa Officials are still working to identify the circumstances surrounding the wrong-way crash. An active investigation is currently ongoing.
