That story about a San Diego 20-year-old who claimed to have given birth to Justin Bieber's baby sounded a little far-fetched to us. As we noted, the teen singer's hair style is enough to repel coital relations.

And then there was the issue, brought up here pretty early on, that the alleged encounter backstage at a Bieber concert in L.A. would amount to statutory rape, since Bieber would have been 16 at the time. The LAPD even said it was looking into that.

Now comes word that …

… Mariah Yeater has dropped her paternity suit against Bieber. TMZ reported the suit was “quietly dismissed” last week and that her lawyers have quit. MTV confirmed the story.

Maybe it was that whole issue of Yeater also claiming her ex was the 3-month-old's baby dad before aiming her lawsuit at Bieber.

For his part, the teen singer maintained it wasn't me, and he even vowed to take a paternity test. His spokesman tells Associated Press the test is still on, regardless.

The news service reports Yeater's paternity suit could still be refiled. We doubt it'll happen.

We told you his hair was chick repellent.
